Pearl Mutual Funds Gain
12.42% and 19.90% in First Half of Year

Muscatine, IA – Pearl Total Return Fund had a 12.42% total return during the first half of 2003 through June 30.  Its sister fund, Pearl Aggressive Growth Fund, had a 19.90% total return for the same period.   The total return of the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index, including dividends reinvested, was 11.76% for the same period.

On Friday, July 18, the year-to-date total returns of the two Muscatine-based mutual funds had increased to 14.74% for Pearl Total Return Fund and 24.30% for Pearl Aggressive Growth Fund. 

Pearl Total Return Fund had a 5.09% total return for the three and one-half years through June 30, 2003, including the three bear market years 2000-2002.  The S&P 500 Index had a loss (negative total return) of 30.27% during that same period.

Pearl Aggressive Growth Fund nearly broke even, with a total return of -0.23% during its first two years through June 30; this fund began operations July 2, 2001.  During that two-year period the S&P 500 Index had a loss of 17.78%. 

Pearl Total Return Fund’s average annual total returns for years ended June 30, 2003 were: 1 year -0.77%, 3 years 2.35%, 5 years 4.81%, and 10 years 8.57%. 

Pearl Aggressive Growth Fund’s average annual total returns for years ended June 30, 2003 were: 1 year 1.03%, and 2 years (from its inception) -0.11%.
